kharad Mixer machine is one of the most demanding machines of any sugar miller, it runs on rotary drum. It was introduced by us a decade back, and generates the finest quality granules with 4 grinding and crushing stages to produce light to medium granules.
Some of the common sugarcane preparation technologies that are being used are Fat Over Rack, Turbine, Dry Mill, etc. The area under cane cultivation has increased manifold over the years. With advent of mechnized harvester, the harvesting of raw sugarcane was simplified as one of the biggest hindrance in regular sugar production is the removal of sugarcane along with the crushing. On average, a harvester removes a maximum of 40% of the sugarcane during crushing process. Most sugar mills in India however, uses kharad mixers to increase the sugar recovery by 10-20% and then crush remaining cane into 10-15% of the original weight of cane.
The use of kharad mixers also minimizes the amount of splintering of cane during harvesting and reduces the number of workmen. It also avoids the occurrence of cane lodging which leads to the grinding of blades, which causes jams and loss of sugar.
To improve the productivity, the water content has to be reduced to almost 10-15%. The process for removing water can be divided into two parts. First, the raw sugarcane has to be run through the mixer after drying and by de-oiling. It is then given into the mixing mechanism and the water content is automatically removed and the granules are processed by demul specification. The leftover residue is used as a source of fuel for the kharad mixers. The granules are then drained and either crushed into fine slurry using ball crusher or mixed with liquid fertilizer, when required, for good yield.
